Houston immigration lawyer Gordon Quan is being honored with the 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award from the Houston College of Law (formerly South Texas College of Law). This is the highest award presented by the Alumni Association and recognizes outstanding civic contributions to the community and significant leadership at the Houston College of Law, as well as in the legal profession.
Mr. Quan, managing partner of the Quan Law Group, is a 1977 graduate of the Houston College of Law. He has been helping clients navigate the U.S. immigration system for almost four decades, witnessing the continual evolution of the U.S. immigration system, particularly as Houston has developed into an international economic hub.

Board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Immigration and Nationality Law, Mr. Quan has successfully argued cases before the Executive Office for Immigration Review, the Board of Immigration Appeals, the Board of Labor Certification Appeals, and in federal courts.
Mr. Quan is a founding member of the Texas State Bar Association’s Immigration Section and the Asian American Bar Association of Houston. A former Houston city councilman, his expertise was instrumental in the City of Houston’s creation of an Office for Immigration and Refugee Affairs.
Mr. Quan has earned numerous accolades, including the prestigious Chambers USA’s title of “Nationwide Senior Statesman” in immigration law, the Legal 500’s list of “Leading Lawyers” in immigration, and the highest possible preeminent AV Rating from his legal peers through Martindale-Hubbell and a Lifetime Achievement Award by Texas Lawyer.
